In "Cancer Support Team: First To Care When the Need Is There" the Executive Director of one of Westchester County's premier non-profit service agencies, Cancer Support Team, tag-teams dynamically with two of CST's nurse counselors to give a summary of services provided by the agency and to pinpoint the essential information people should know about breast and ovarian cancer.
The goal of Cancer Support Team (CST) is to enhance the quality of life of lower Westchester residents living with cancer.

8th Annual Women’s Health Awareness Luncheon
Cancer Support Team is holding its Eighth Annual Women’s Health Awareness Luncheon at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York. It is a premier educational event that seeks to heighten awareness about women’s health issues through the presentation of the latest in cancer-related prevention, research and treatment. The featured speaker, Harold J. Burstein, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a medical oncologist in the Breast Oncology Center at Dana-Farber Institute and Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He is a clinician and clinical investigator specializing in breast cancer.

- Kathleen T. Shields, Nurse Counselor, has worked as a nurse for the past 35 years, 27 of which were in the United States at United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester, NY. Patient-centered care has been a priority throughout her career. Her position as a Hospice Nurse allowed her to work as a team member providing aggressive comfort measures to the terminally ill.
- Patricia L. Vaughn, Nurse Counselor, provides nursing care management for cancer patients newly diagnosed, in treatment and/or in the terminal phase of illness, offering emotional support and counseling for patients and their families. Since 1995 she has undertaken an informal study program in Healing Rituals and in Developing a Healing Environment.
